Cut-Off and Walk Behind Diamond Blades

Diamond saw blades come in many different sizes, configurations and uses. How a Concrete diamond blade cuts or any diamond blade is by the diamonds are held together by a metal matrix called the bond. Bonds come in Soft, Medium, and Hard to put it simply. As the diamond blade cuts the diamonds are exposed and slowly the bond wears and exposing new sharper diamond to continue cutting concrete.

Diamond Blades can be used wet or dry, depending on the blade type. When you use a wet cutting blade, water cools the blade as your cutting which creates a slurry and flushes out to continue cutting. Dry cutting blades use airflow to cool the blades and remove debris. Any Dry cutting diamond blade can be used WET, but a WET cutting diamond blade can only be used WET. WET CUTTING BLADES CANNOT BE USED DRY.

Each diamond blade is designed for use on a specific range of materials. If the material being cut is soft or abrasive, the bond on the blade is hard so the bond does not prematurely release the diamonds. If the material being cut, is hard or less abrasive, the bond on the blade is softer so the diamonds release before they become too worn to cut. There are many factors that go into when choosing the right diamond saw blade.
